Preceptor Program

Our Preceptor Program pairs an experienced nurse with a new employee throughout their orientation period. The preceptor acts as educator, socializer and role model to the new staff member. By individualizing the orientation process, preceptors share their nursing expertise and enable new employees to perform as valuable members of the healthcare team. Special training allows preceptors to learn their role.

The new nursing employee will have the opportunity to continue their professional development throug a sheltered mentored experience that will include classroom learning and supervised clinical experiences.

LewisGale Hospital at Montgomery has a strong commitment to nusing education. Participants in our mentored orientation program work with professional nursing staff members and learn from their clinical expertise and direct supervision. The result for the new LewisGale Hospital at Montgomery nursing employee is the ability to approach their future nursing roles with increased confidence.
